About Me

Hey everyone I’m Nate and I have been a dog-lover as long as I can remember. My parents had a rule growing up that if we were going to have dogs, my siblings and I had to pitch in and take care of them and train them to be well-behaved. From an early age, I realized I had a passion for dog training.

Sadly, our family dog Sparky passed away shortly before I moved away to college in 2006. For 8 long years (college and first job out of college), I did not own a dog.

I met my wife Kelly in 2011 and we were married in May 2014. The following month we rescued our first dog Honey. A couple months later we rescued our second dog Molly. Both of our girls are miniature poodles and we could not be happier to have them.Honey and Molly

My journey to becoming an expert trainer:

When we first got Honey, I realized quite quickly that she was a headstrong girl and was going to be a handful. Honey was potty trained and had started to learn the “Sit” command when we rescued her. And I found that the techniques that I had learned growing up were not working with her… So I had to dive into countless hours of internet research, books, and how-to videos. During my research I would try new techniques I learned and started to realize what worked best for Honey and for me.

By the time we rescued Molly, I thought I was an expert… Until I heard Molly’s story. Molly had been abandoned by her previous owners. She had lived outside in a backyard and had been provided food and water and not much else. She had zero formal training, she had trust issues, and was not food/treat driven. Again, I dove into my research and tried new techniques until I found some that worked.Cowgirl Molly

Today, I am still learning new techniques, but my girls are two of the best behaved dogs I have ever had, and I am so proud of them. I have close friends that ask me for dog training advice on a regular basis, and I get to work with their dogs and help them further build that relationship with their furry babies.

I’ve found that helping people learn how to train their dogs is one the most rewarding things about all I’ve learned, second only to training with my girls.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to leave a comment and I will be happy to help in any way I can.

Hopefully I hear from you soon!

Nate
